Washington County Schools strives to maintain a healthy and safe learning environment. School nurses and medical professionals are available in each of our schools to address and manage the various health needs and well-being of our students and staff. These individuals are trained to handle serious medical events and/or emergencies that may occur in our buildings and work to provide resources and support for all students, including those with medical conditions, and additionally, work closely with students, parents/guardians, other health care professionals, and school and district administrators to provide:
- Assessment and/or treatment of student and staff illness/injuries
- Health screenings/appraisals (vision, hearing, height, weight, BMI)
- Care of complex and/or chronic student health conditions
- Administration of prescription and over-the-counter medications
- Conducting school staff training sessions for medical administration and other health services
Washington County Schools partners with the Cumberland Family Medical Center, Inc., to offer the Healthy Kids Clinic program for students, families and staff. Healthy Kids Clinic offers a variety of on-site services. The Healthy Kids Clinic is open during the school day and by appointment.
