(SPRINGFIELD, Ky.) – Washington County Schools has named Melissa Call the WCHS District Instructional Assistant Principal. Call is a 2002 graduate of Montgomery County High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in French Language and Literature in 2007 from Transylvania University, and a Master of Arts in French Language and Literature in 2009 from the University of Kentucky. She later earned a Master of Arts in Education – Teacher as Leader in 2015 from Northern Kentucky University and a Master of Arts in School Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands in 2019. Most recently, she obtained Instructional Leadership Level 1 Principal Certification from Western Kentucky University in 2025. Over the course of her career in education, she has served as a high school teacher in Jefferson County Public Schools at Atherton High School, and in Nelson County Schools at Thomas Nelson High School where she taught all levels of high school French at both schools, and served as the World Languages Department Chair at TNHS. She has also served as an assistant principal at Nelson County High School, as a high school counselor and as assistant principal at TNHS.

“As an assistant principal, I am able to combine two of my greatest passions in education: supporting teachers in providing a safe, rigorous and meaningful educational experience for all students, and equipping students with the skills to be successful in life,” said Call. “I am grateful for the opportunity to invest in the WCHS community alongside other passionate and committed educators, and my goal this year is to positively impact the lives of students, families and staff through my work at WCHS.”
