Background Checks

Field Trips:

If you wish to attend field trips with your child, but NOT help as a chaperone (supervising other students):

• Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) Background Check  ($10.00 AOC fee donation to WC Schools for the cost of this check is suggested and must be cash or check, no cards accepted)
• Central Registry Check for Child Abuse & Neglect History ($10 Fee) (Must be on credit/debit card only, no cash or check accepted.)

If you wish to attend field trips with your child AND serve as a chaperone for other students: (includes, BETA and End of Year, etc.)

• Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) Background Check ($10 donation to WC Schools for the cost of this check is suggested and must be cash or check, no cards accepted)
• Federal & State Criminal History Background Check (fingerprints) sent and completed by Kentucky State Police (Must be done online with a credit/debit for a $51.25 Fee)
• Central Registry Check for Child Abuse & Neglect History ($10 Fee done online and must be credit/debit card no cash accepted.)

School Volunteer:

If you wish to regularly volunteer for the school as a mentor, Watch DOG, band parent helper, or volunteer coach:

• Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) Background Check ($10 donation to WC Schools for the cost of this check is suggested and must be cash or check, no cards accepted)
• Federal & State Criminal History Background Check (fingerprints) sent and completed by Kentucky State Police (Must be done online with a credit/debit for a $51.25 Fee)
• Central Registry Check for Child Abuse & Neglect History ($10 Fee done online and must be credit/debit card no cash accepted.)
• Attend volunteer training set up through our Family Resource Youth Service Center by appointment.

Timeframe for Results:

• AOC – Generally comes back in 24 hours
• Central Registry Child Abuse and Neglect Check – Generally comes back in 24 hours
• Fingerprints – Takes about 4 weeks, usually around a month

A parent may attend with the first two types of background checks, but to chaperone, they all three background checks must be back. A complete list of all background checks and dates of validity are kept on file.
