FRYSC Mission Statement

To enhance students’ ability to succeed by developing and sustaining partnerships that promote:

• Early learning and successful transition to school
• Academic achievement and well-being
• Graduation and transition into adult life

Washington County FRYSC provides a variety of services to families with children from birth through graduation. A family does not have to have a school age child to request FRYSC services. Early intervention and early learning is a big part of the FRYSC mission. Some of the services available are:

• Clothes closet
• Food pantry
• Parenting education workshops
• Baba Commander Book Club
• Born Learning Program
• Cradle School
• Drug education and prevention
• Leadership opportunities
• Career/Job preparation
• Counseling referrals
• Parent and Grandparent Groups
• Nutrition Education
• Food Backpack program
• Student of the Month at the middle and high school
• Insurance Application Assistance
• Collaboration with DCBS
• Mentoring
• Volunteer Program

Contact the FRYSC for information about resources to support grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.  Support groups and possible financial resources are available in our area.

The Washington County Adult Education Center is located on the Springfield Campus of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College. For information, the center is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00am to 3:00pm

Local Food Resources & Assistance

With the federal government shutdown impacting SNAP benefits, we understand that some of our students and families may be facing challenges accessing food and essential resources.

To help, we’ve compiled a list of local food resources and assistance programs available for students, parents, and community members.

All students enrolled in Washington County Schools will continue to receive FREE breakfast and lunch daily.

Family Resource & Youth Services Centers (FRYSCs) located in each of our schools can connect you with community-based resources and provide information regarding our Feeding America Food Pantry.
